Me: That was Jason.
Henry: Why did you call him "Jase?"
Me: That is his nickname. Do you call any of your friends by a nickname?
Henry: I call Cyris "Cy."
Me: Right! And Izy is Izabel's nickname.
Henry: What's Eily's nickname?
Me: She doesn't really have one. We could call her "Eyeball."
Henry: (giggles) sometimes I call her Eye.
Me: Oh, that's a good one.
Henry: What about Hazel?
Me: In our family, we have the tendency to give people nicknames that are longer than their actual name. Like we call Hazel, "Hazey Potato Head," and we call Malcolm, "Malkie Babester." Emi used to call you, "Baby Hen Hen."
Henry: She still calls me that.
